Pose Library is looking for art models in Los Angeles and Southern California.

Pose Library creates high quality reference photography for artists studying gesture drawing, figure drawing, and anatomy.

We work with models to produce pose sequences similar to traditional life drawing sessions, and the images are used as educational reference by artists around the world.

What a shoot looks like

A typical shoot includes a series of standing and dynamic poses photographed in sequence. These poses are later used by artists for gesture drawing and anatomy studies.

Models do not need to hold poses for long periods. Each pose only needs to be held briefly while the image is captured. The timing for drawing practice is added later inside the Pose Library viewer.

Shoots typically include:

• A variety of standing, seated, and dynamic poses
• Simple studio lighting and neutral backgrounds
• Light direction similar to what you might see in a life drawing session

Sessions are typically a minimum of two hours, allowing time to capture a wide range of poses and movements.

Wardrobe & Pose Options

Pose Library sessions may include a range of wardrobe styles similar to those used in traditional life drawing classes.

Models can choose their preferred level of coverage, including:

• Costumed poses
• Clothed reference
• Partially clothed poses
• Artistic nude poses

Models always decide what they are comfortable with, and participation in any level of coverage is entirely optional.

Compensation

Models are paid for their time.

Details are discussed before each shoot depending on the session length and usage.

Who we're looking for

We are looking to work with a diverse range of models representing different body types, backgrounds, ages, and physical characteristics. Variety is important because artists benefit from studying many different kinds of bodies and poses.

No prior modeling experience is required.

People with strong body awareness or movement experience can sometimes be especially comfortable posing. This can include:

• Dancers
• Yoga practitioners or instructors
• Martial artists
• Athletes or gymnasts
• Actors and performers
• Experienced life drawing models

However, people from all backgrounds and experience levels are welcome to contact us.

Models must be 20 years or older.

Location

Shoots currently take place in Los Angeles and other parts of Southern California.

Our reference sessions are designed for artists who use gesture drawing practice, figure drawing pose reference, and anatomy studies.
