FAQ

Find answers about how Pose Library works, accounts, daily pose sessions, and figure drawing practice.

What is Pose Library?

Pose Library is a daily life drawing tool that gives artists of all levels access to high-quality model pose references for gesture and figure drawing practice.

How should I use this?

There's no single "correct" way to use Pose Library.

If you're new, the simplest approach is:

You don't need to finish a drawing or make something polished. The goal is to build observation, rhythm, and confidence through repetition.

Many artists use Pose Library as:

If you only have a few minutes, that's enough. If you want more control, you can customize pose durations or build longer sessions. Use it in whatever way helps you draw more often.

If you want a simple place to start, try the Gesture Drawing Practice guide.

Do I need an account?

No. You don't need an account to sketch from the daily default gallery.

If you create an account, you'll get access to additional images, customizable settings, and the ability to track your practice over time.

Can I customize pose times?

Yes. You can customize both the number of poses and how long each pose stays on screen.

This feature is available with a free account, which also gives you access to additional images, settings, and saved practice stats.

How does the playlist work?

Each session pulls a curated set of poses from the daily gallery. Every time you start a pose session, you can receive a fresh mix from that gallery.

Why do I see a duration prompt between sets?

When pose durations change (for example, from 1 minute to 2 minutes), the player pauses briefly to show the upcoming duration so you can reset your focus before continuing.

When do galleries change?

The daily gallery changes at midnight Pacific Time (PT). You can switch to your local time in Settings (beta).

What kind of pose references are included?

Pose Library includes a range of pose references for artists, including gesture poses, figure drawing references, partially clothed poses, and nude poses depending on your settings.

If you want to browse examples, visit Reference Poses for Artists or the daily Pose of the Day.

What does the reference type toggle do?

The reference type toggle controls whether fully nude poses appear in your drawing sessions.

When Nude is selected:

Fully nude images are not filtered.

Pose sets may include full nudity, similar to a traditional life-drawing session.

When Clothed is selected:

Fully nude images are removed.

You will only see partially clothed poses.

"Partially clothed" means some clothing is worn, but the model is not fully dressed (sometimes described as semi-nude).

Please note:

Choosing Clothed does not automatically make images safe for work. Some poses may still include:

The reference type toggle exists to give you control over what you see, not to change the artistic intent of the practice. Choose the setting that best supports your comfort level and drawing goals.

Nudity Disclaimer

Pose Library includes artistic reference images of the human figure used solely for educational and artistic study. Some sessions may contain partial or full nudity, similar to a traditional life drawing environment.

Nudity is never presented for sexual purposes. All images are intended exclusively for education, practice, and artistic reference.

This tool is amazing. Why is it free?

Pose Library is still actively being developed. While it's already useful, the number of galleries and features is currently limited, and we don't feel it's right to charge until we can confidently offer enough value.

Over time, we plan to add more content and features while maintaining free access to the core practice. Optional paid extras may be introduced for artists who want more.

If you want a preview of what is coming next, visit the Studio page and request access during the rollout.
